Thinker

Thinker

Usually, books go onto a bookshelf when you’re done reading them. However, books that are in the middle of being read don’t have a special place, so they often end up scattered across the tops of desks. I felt that I could come up with a new home for such books.
This stand, called “Thinker,” provides a place for books that didn’t previously have one. The tabletop piece is designed to look like an open book, and functions as an affordance, naturally making the user aware of its purpose as a place for books, and because it is taller than most chairs, it is district from a stool. As books are stacked on it, it provides a physical look into the inside of the owner's mind.
