ForestBank|Made in TOKYO MIDTOWN

*Exhibition caption text

“ForestBank” started with collecting branch segments and other plant parts to be packed inside each piece. These were fixed in acrylic resin and polished to allow their forms to appear. Selection of plants was crucial to the design process.
The “ForestBank” project began in 2020, and since then has been generating new materials out of what would normally be considered waste. The composite material of “ForestBank” can be used to make furniture or other items. Kano always gathers his constituents from a site relevant to the project. The solid objects displayed here were made from offcuts of plant pruning at TOKYO MIDTOWN. Look closely, and you may discern bits of cherry branches or lavender flowers.
